Razberry was a sweet, resiliant dog with wonderful owners, both of which we have been lucky to know. Unfortunately, Razberry passed away shortly after being chosen as "Pet of the Month"for October.
Razberry endured a lot of medical problems over the past two years with pluck and positivity. Her saga began in the summer of 2015 when she presented with a large, rapidly growing mammary tumor. Her owners and I had a long discussion about the pros and cons of surgery, and it was determined that we would move forward with the lengthy and invasive procedure to remove the large mass and spay her. She came through the surgery successfully, and although the recovery was difficult, she responded very well to the post-surgical recovery plan. She lived happy and healthy for nearly a year before her next medical hurdle.
Her owner brought her to us with another rapidly growing tumor, this time on her rear leg. Due to the invasive nature of this tumor, Razberry's leg had to be amputated above the knee. At each turn, we had a thorough, open discussion about the pros and cons of proceeding with additional treatments. She once again recovered with a positive attitude and spunk I am not sure I could live up to myself. Razberry was a wonderful companion, a fabulous patient and as a tough a dog as I have ever known. She will be greatly missed.
