From Rebel's family -

We adopted Rebel through Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR) in November of 2015. We love English Bulldogs and felt giving another Bully a forever home would be a great way to honor our late Irma. Rebel is a high energy dog! Who knew an English Bully could be so fast & agile! He loves balls, squeaky toys, tearing up boxes and destroying the occasional sofa pillow when we give him permission. He happily cooperates with twice weekly baths for his disorder.

Rebel has been diagnosed with a skin condition called Pemphigus foliaceus. This is the most common of several types of pemphigus. Pemphigus is an autoimmune disease where the dog’s immune system produces antibodies that affect adhesion molecules between skin cells. This leads to cells detaching from one another, which can be seen clinically as pustules. These often first occur around the nose, eyes, ears, and foot pads. This condition can occur in any dog or cat, but it is most common in Akitas and Chow Chows. Diagnosis usually requires cytology and a skin biopsy. Treatment of pemphigus is often lifelong and requires frequent care and vet visits. Rebel has had numerous appointments with a local certified veterinary dermatologist. His disease is being kept under control with azathioprine, prednisone, and several topical medications. Rebel is lucky to have found a family that has been able to take such great care of him lately.

Rebel is very smart, loves his people, and is the center of attention in his family. We couldn't love him more!
